Recently, HARMAN Professional Solutions joined leaders in the entertainment technology industry at LDI 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In previous years, the “LDI” acronym stood for Lighting Dimensions International, but this year, the event changed its name to “Live Design International.” The tradeshow’s new and more inclusive moniker reflected the show’s shift in emphasis from lighting DCIM100GOPROGOPR0030.to complete event production technology solutions. The shift parallels HARMAN Professional Solutions’ own renewed commitment to offering complete AVL solutions. At previous LDI shows, our audio solutions took a back seat to lighting. This year, however, they shared center stage, deploying a complete lighting and sound solution that caught the attention of the thousands of attendees who came to the booth.

Visitors to this year’s HARMAN Professional Solutions LDI booth were welcomed into a vibrant, immersive rock-and-roll touring environment that demonstrated how HARMAN can bridge the gap between lighting and sound. The booth featured lighting and audio consoles at the front of house position, and showed off a striking video wall featuring Martin by HARMAN’S new VDO Face 5 video panels and VDO Sceptron LED video fixtures. Other booth areas included a stage, a bar and a live DJ.

Martin debuted three exciting new products at the show. The VDO Face 5 is a 5.2 mm pixel pitch video panel for outdoor and indoor applications. Like all other Martin LED video products, the VDO Face 5 can be seamlessly integrated into a total video solution using Martin’s P3 system. The consistent pixel-to-pixel calibration in Martin’s video LED solutions provides exceptional image quality and enables various panels to be quickly and easily combined. The video panels were driven by a Martin P-300 System Controller and DMX from a lighting console (via the ArtNet input on the Martin P-300).

Martin also introduced two additions to the popular M-Series controller family. The M1 HD and the M2GO HD are portable, all-in-one lighting controllers focused on ease of use and intuitive workflow. Related to the acclaimed M1 controller, the M1 HD provides more power, speed, a foldable multi-touch head display, 40 universes and four additional parameter encoders. Similarly, the M2GO HD builds upon the M2GO, boasting a new processing core, an added built-in, foldable multi-touch screen, 20 universes and four additional parameter encoders. Both the M1 HD and the M2GO HD deliver a state-of-the-art experience in a roadworthy, cost-effective package and will be available in early 2017.

HARMAN Professional Solutions’ tour sound setup at LDI 2016 included JBL VTX V20 line arrays, JBL G28 subwoofers, Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD rack amplifiers, Soundcraft Vi2000 mixer with Soundcraft Realtime Rack, HARMAN Performance Manager software and a multitrack playback system to simulate a true live audio experience.

Throughout the show, audio professionals and lighting designers alike expressed their enthusiasm for the successful integration of HARMAN’s lighting and audio brands operating within an authentic touring environment.
