Brad Divens, current Enrique Iglesias and renowned FOH engineer, loves nothing more than having an opportunity, in between shows, to sit down with engineers of all levels to share his love for the art of the mixing process and creating the perfect final live mix. Every so often, Brad is able to carve out time for one of his legendary fixintogetmixin classes that are open to all levels of engineers and free of charge.

These get togethers are perfect for sharing ideas, intermingling perspectives and learning how Brad utilizes the JBL VTX A12 Line Array Series, JBL 7 Series Near Field Monitors and Soundcraft Vi 3000 Mixing Consoles to craft his signature mix. To ensure a very initimate discussion environment, class seats are strictly limited on a first-to-register basis.

At the latest stop on the fixintogetmixin tour, at  HARMAN’s Northridge, California Los Angeles Experience Center, Divens shared his thoughts on mixing using the Soundcraft Vi3000: “The Soundcraft console performed flawlessly and always sounds amazing. It’s so easy to work on.”

When asked why he likes using the JBL 7 Series for monitoring as well as the JBL VTX A12s, Divens added, “The imaging and detail that is revealed in the 708Ps are also a big part of the mixing process. Moving the audio to the A12s during the class is also very impressive. The class really enjoys seeing the mix go from the near fields to the PA.”

Greg Jones, HARMAN Professional Solutions Vice President, Live Entertainment was also at this event and commented, “I am really happy with the way this event has developed, even from the first class we launched just a short six weeks ago. The concept is now a reality and has proven value in both branding for JBL in its support of the event and “fixintogetmixin” with Brad Divens.” Jones added, “We’re also proud to be able to empower the next generation of professionals in offering this opportunity to learn, be inspired, and pay forward what is being learned to further generations. These events also enable our team to work closer with one of the TOP FOH engineers as well as the other engineers – active and up and coming – that have attended so far.”

In addition to Brad’s current gig with Enrique Iglesias, Brad has engineered for Linkin Park, Garbage, Cyndi Lauper, HIM, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Motley Crue, Jane’s Addiction and countless others. Divens is often asked, “How did you end up being a sound engineer?” “The answer was simple, my passion for music led me here. I was fortunate to work as a professional musician for many years but one day found myself in a situation where I needed a gig to pay the rent. I received a call, asking if I could tour manage and mix sound. I said yes to a gig I had never done before, but I knew I could do it. I took the leap because I had faith in myself, an unquenchable passion for music, and a desire to succeed. I continue to enjoy what I do and therefore I’ve never worked a day in my life. Remember these three words….’pick your gig’.”
