And, although every device comes standard with some sort of sharing capability today, it is really interesting how many users, when given an option, will choose a wired connection for sharing if that option is available. Unless users are familiar with the room, have established a connection to the wireless network the screen sharing device is connected to, and know they have a compatible sharing application, they tend to opt for a hard wired connection if it\u2019s available \u2013 it\u2019s just easier. Wired connections bypass network security requirements and passwords required to gain access to the corporate or guest network. Also, as a general rule, video benefits from wired connections based on reduced latency, higher refresh rates, and better images because there isn\u2019t a HDBaseT video compression requirement.<\/p>\n<p>While wired sharing with HDMI is fairly standard, sharing can get tricky when visiting devices do not have HDMI connections. Let\u2019s say a user wants to share recent tradeshow photos or present a light PowerPoint presentation from their phone to the room display. In most conference rooms this is not an easy thing to do. That\u2019s why, when we built the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amx.com\/en-US\/product_families\/ct-series\">AMX Conferencing Connectivity and Transport Kit (CTC-1402)<\/a>, we included USB-C connectivity. We found that when we included HDMI, VGA (RGBHV), and native DisplayPort input connections on the CTC-1402 Transmitter at the conference room table, there really shouldn\u2019t be a visiting device out there that can\u2019t use one of these connections for passage of video to the display.<\/p>\n<p>The great thing about the USB-C connection is that it allows the visiting device to not just share content, but also use all the USB devices in the room such as a camera, soundbar, keyboard and mouse. So, for a scenario like a web conference hosted on a visiting laptop, the CTC Kit really elevates the meeting to utilize professional gear, designed for multiple participants rather than a group of people huddled around a laptop. Meetings are just better when everyone is seen and heard. But we didn\u2019t stop at the USB-C connection.\u00a0 We provide a USB host device connection which allows the USB devices to be dynamically switched to whatever the current video source is.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5997\" src=\"https:\/\/pro.harman.com\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/BlogDiagram_1000x1000.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hpro-web-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/insights\/uploads\/2018\/08\/BlogDiagram_1000x1000.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/hpro-web-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/insights\/uploads\/2018\/08\/BlogDiagram_1000x1000-80x80.jpg 80w, https:\/\/hpro-web-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/insights\/uploads\/2018\/08\/BlogDiagram_1000x1000-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hpro-web-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/insights\/uploads\/2018\/08\/BlogDiagram_1000x1000-160x160.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Many users, love the idea of wireless screen sharing, and want to make sure they are providing that option within their conference spaces.\u00a0 For the best of both worlds, we also offer the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amx.com\/en-US\/product_families\/acendo-core\">AMX Acendo Core<\/a> for wireless sharing and if budget allows, it\u2019s really nice to include both solutions. The new CT Kits are designed to have a permanent connection to some sort of host device, like a room PC, or an Acendo Core and be able to pass full use of the room to a visiting device when connected, automatically. Users who repeatedly use the same rooms, like employees, can work through the requirements for wireless sharing and become very comfortable with the technology.
