In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly officially inaugurated the Al-Ali Al-Azeem Mosque in the Almaza area of Heliopolis, Cairo. Spanning 8,100 square meters across three levels, the mosque accommodates up to 5,000 worshippers and serves as both a spiritual and community hub, housing a clinic, library, nursery, educational classrooms and event spaces. With expansive prayer halls, multi-level facilities and open-air courtyards, the design and integration team needed an audio system that could provide clear and consistent coverage throughout every zone while preserving the mosque’s serene aesthetic.
“Given the size and function of the space, the key challenge was ensuring consistent sound coverage across a large interior volume with varied architectural and acoustic demands,” said Mario G. At the heart of the design is the JBL CBT 1000 loudspeaker with Constant Beamwidth Technology™, providing adjustable vertical coverage and a tapered horizontal waveguide. The system’s high output and wide dispersion made it ideal for both near and far-field listening throughout the mosque’s primary spaces. To reinforce outdoor areas, JBL AWC all-weather loudspeakers were deployed, offering warm, intelligible coverage that stands apart from the harsher tonality of conventional horn systems – an especially important factor for broadcasted religious content.
The audio system was engineered to be as visually unobtrusive as it is acoustically powerful, blending seamlessly with the architecture while ensuring sermons and recitations reach every worshipper clearly. Across three floors, indoor halls and outdoor courtyards, the HARMAN Professional solution was designed to elevate both the spiritual and communal experience.
