Design and implement a superior audio and digital media distribution solution to support the four-story, 65,000-square-foot ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks performing arts center. The solution needed to flexibly distribute digital and analog signals, give staff truly versatile control over signal distribution, and create a patron-focused environment that engages audiences to return again and again.
HARMAN integrator AVI-SPL’s solution combined best-of-breed technologies from a range of companies and brands, which brought control panels, digital media, audio and video into a cohesive system, allowing staff to control the facility’s resources from multiple locations. With wireless control and touch panels located throughout facility, the staff broadly distributes high-quality sound and video throughout the venue. One of the standout designs was for the Center’s Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas. AVI-SPL adhered to the highest quality specifications for digital cinema viewing and designed a system that handles robust analog and integrates a theatrical surround system, including projectors that observe the motion picture industry’s DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) standard. A custom multi-format switcher makes it easy for both theaters to use shared signal sources, carrying industry-standard AES/EBU digital audio, analog audio, HD-SDI and component video. For guest lecturers, twisted-pair transceivers accommodate computer inputs at the screens.
“There’s nothing like it outside Philadelphia and New York City,” says Raymond, noting the positive reception by attendees and colleagues alike. “They are very pleased with what our building offers.”
