In 2023, three iconic artists—Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and Pitbull—teamed up for the Trilogy Tour, delivering three distinct headline performances across North America. The tour had stops in major cities like New York, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, and concluded in Vancouver. The 2024 leg of the tour will kicked off on January 30 in Fresno and continued to cities like Denver, Austin, Toronto, Nashville, and more, wrapping up in Tampa on March 10.
To ensure each performance delivered high-impact, arena-ready sound with balanced coverage and clarity, Enrique Iglesias’s FOH Mix Engineer Brad Divens, Pitbull’s FOH Mix Engineer Will Madera, and Ricky Martin’s FOH Mix Engineer Jorge Frontera collaborated to specify a JBL VTX A-Series sound reinforcement system for the tour. The JBL VTX system, known for its detailed sound quality and consistent performance, was the unanimous choice for powering the Trilogy Tour.
The Trilogy Tour selected a complete JBL VTX A Series arena sound reinforcement system provided by Sound Image / Clair Global. The system features:
96 JBL VTX A12 Speakers: The main hang consisted of 20 speakers per side, with side hangs of 16 speakers per side, and auxiliary hangs of 14 speakers.
42 JBL VTX B28 Subwoofers: To ensure strong and controlled bass, 24 subs were flown with the main array, while 16 subs were placed on the ground in front of the stage.
12 JBL VTX A8 Speakers: These were stacked on top of the ground subs to deliver front-fill coverage for the audience.
The system was praised for its wide coverage, detailed sound quality, and the smooth, airy top-end performance. With its 110-degree coverage area and powerful SPL output, the VTX A-Series provided the sound engineers with the tools to deliver the punch and clarity necessary for each artist’s performance.
FOH Mix Engineers Brad Divens, Will Madera, and Jorge Frontera worked closely with Systems Engineer Bill Chase to ensure that the system performed consistently night after night in various arenas, ensuring that every mix translated perfectly regardless of the venue.
The JBL VTX A-Series sound system exceeded the expectations of the Trilogy Tour’s audio team, delivering consistent performance and exceptional sound quality throughout the tour. “The coverage and impact from the system is incredible,” said Brad Divens, FOH Mix Engineer for Enrique Iglesias. “I like the punch, the clarity, and the top end—it’s smooth, airy, and present. The vocal quality is fantastic, and everything sits exactly where you expect it to be.”
Pitbull’s FOH Mix Engineer, Will Madera, echoed the sentiment: “I love the low end and the definition of the mids and highs. It has that pop-rock sound that I like very much. The JBL system performed consistently, which makes our jobs easier. It’s been one of my best experiences touring yet—no complaints whatsoever.”
