As part of a major multi-stage renovation, Bondi Icebergs sought to transform its club and function spaces into a more flexible hospitality and events destination under a new identity, The Bergs. Overlooking Bondi Beach, the venue hosts a diverse mix of dining, private functions, live entertainment and sporting events, often operating several independent spaces simultaneously. To support this evolving programming, the venue required an audio system capable of delivering consistent sound quality across multiple zones while allowing staff to quickly transition between different event formats without relying on complex technical operation.
Working with MadisonAV, Showtime Production Services designed and integrated a venue-wide HARMAN Professional system built around JBL Professional loudspeakers, Crown amplifiers and BSS processors.
At the core of the installation is a distributed, multi-zone audio architecture using BSS BLU signal processors, providing centralized routing and flexible control across the venue's hospitality and event spaces. JBL Professional Control Series loudspeakers were selected to meet the acoustic requirements of each environment, with JBL Control 424 in-ceiling loudspeakers installed throughout reception and dining areas, JBL Control 25AV surface-mount loudspeakers covering general hospitality spaces, and JBL Control 29AV loudspeakers serving higher-energy areas. A JBL ABS6112 subwoofer provides low-frequency reinforcement for DJ performances and live entertainment.
Crown CDi and CSA Series amplifiers power the system, while local audio inputs routed through the BSS BLU-100 processor allow staff to connect background music sources, DJs and live performers without disrupting venue operations. The distributed architecture enables spaces to operate independently or be combined as programming changes throughout the day.
The integrated HARMAN Professional system allows The Bergs to support multiple events simultaneously while maintaining independent audio control across each space. Staff can quickly reconfigure zones for private functions, live entertainment, dining service or sporting events, creating distinct guest experiences without extensive system changes.
The combination of JBL Professional loudspeakers, Crown amplification and BSS processing provides consistent coverage and reliable performance throughout the venue, supporting everything from background music to live bands and DJ performances. By delivering a flexible, scalable audio platform, Showtime Production Services and MadisonAV have equipped The Bergs with an AV infrastructure designed to support its evolving hospitality and events programming for years to come.
